Inclusive Child Care Services

bgc Okanagan uses the BC Inclusive Childcare Framework to support children
to participate fully in childcare when their parents and caregivers need to work.
Inclusive Childcare (ICC) Centres support children and families of all
backgrounds and abilities by providing a wide range of support options,
including daycare, preschool, and after-school care programs. ICC can be
provided independently, or in conjunction with other Family Connection Centre
(FCC) services.

Capacity Building

Inclusive Childcare Consultants work to build capacity by strengthening knowledge and teaching strategies to support an inclusive childcare model.

Inclusive Child Care Consultation Services

ICC Consultants provide child-specific support to foster full inclusion in childcare settings.

Enhanced Staffing Supports

Specialized ICC services ensure children and youth are included in, are connected to, and learn from, their preschool, daycare, or afterschool program experience. Some children may need one-on-one support and/or accommodations during portions of their day. ICC workers support one or more children accordingly by prioritizing the needs of families and by respecting their choices as indicated in their individualized plans.

bgc Okanagan provides specific childcare providers in the Central Okanagan with support, consultation, training and access to specialized equipment that allows all children to participate in barrier-free childcare regardless of their support needs. ICC Consultant services include:
